Fractional Ownership Portal

Fractionalownership.co.za is the first official South African portal to fractional ownership information, news and product offering within this new and exciting industry. Launchedon 10th July with the support of many of the industries key players, as well as a strategic alliance with Fin 24, part of the Media 24 Group, the portal has a wide array of benefits for both intermediaries, developers and service providers, as well as providing current and up to date news and information to the public and prospective purchasers.

Developed by local digital design company Quicksites in line with international trends. According to Francois Botha, one of the Quicksites directors, "The most important factor when it comes to portals is ofcourse the search-engine rankings of the site. In order to acchieve our objectives, the portal makes use of a multitude of modern day technologies, from an intergrated blog which feeds directly into Google; a robust adserver which serves & tracks ads on the site as well as fin24, right through to super-specialised site analytics from Google.

Fractional Ownership has emerged as a rapidly growing alternative to whole ownership of luxury vacation homes.  According to statistics, this area of ownership is growing at over 150% per year, both locally and internationally, and is only in its infancy as a trend.

Founding Member, Dirk Wilson said “Currently fractionalownership.co.za focuses specifically on the real estate market, although the fractional ownership concept can be applied to a wide range of asset classes. The portal will provide a vital link between the public and the industry, which has seen phenomenal and unprecedented growth in the last few months.”

Research shows that whilst most fractional scheme owners could afford a whole-owned vacation home, they elected to purchase a co-owned interest because of the logic of owning only the time they will spend at their vacation residence, coupled with the added benefit of services and amenities that would generally not be available with private ownership.

“Fractional Ownership offers the benefits of equity based deeded vacation home ownership combined with the prestige and exclusivity of a private club membership. This form of ownership provides services and amenities of the highest standards, whist allowing the buyer to own a luxury vacation residence where price matches usage” said Dirk Wilson.  “The portal will give the public access to investments, destinations, FAQ’s, current news and advice from respected industry and property experts such as Erwin Rode. Fractionalownership.co.za has also been appointed to facilitate the formation of SAAFI (South African Association of Fractional Intermediaries), the industry regulatory body founded to look after the interests of the general public, consumer protection, as well as acting as a neutral spokesperson for the industry. This plethora of information makes fractionalownership.co.za the perfect platform for anyone interested in, or working in the fractional ownership industry to obtain insightful and up to date information.

The rapid appreciation of real estate in high demand world class destinations has pushed the average price of a second home well into the millions of rands, making it difficult to justify only using it a few weeks a year.  Rather than buying an entire home and individual can enjoy the sensibility and security of deeded interest.  South African property market investors seeking to share investments in high-end properties can now boost their portfolios with a new syndication initiative.  This follows an international trend for investors to take fractional ownership of luxury assets, allowing them to spread the risk and responsibility of an investment, while retaining an appreciating asset.
